New York
New York is where enterprise AI gets bought, not only built. Over 2,000 AI startups and 35 AI unicorns sit beside the banks, insurers, hospital systems and publishers paying for the output, and AI hiring here has been growing faster than in the Bay Area. That makes it a forward-deployed market by construction. It is also already an ELO client geography, though that engagement stays under NDA.

What your team owns to relocate Fauzul to New York
The route that matters here is O-1A, not H-1B. The FY2027 H-1B window closed on 19 March 2026, so the next lottery entry is around March 2027 for an October 2027 start, and Proclamation 10973 currently adds a $100,000 payment to any H-1B petition for a beneficiary outside the US. O-1A carries no cap, no lottery and no degree test, and premium processing decides it in 15 business days.
Name the US petitioning entity, sign the employment agreement or a written summary of terms, and budget the I-129 fee ($1,655, or $830 for a small employer) plus premium processing ($2,965).
Obtain the peer-group advisory opinion, assemble the criterion-by-criterion evidence exhibits, and file the I-129 with the O supplement.
The evidence pack: work history, references and recommendation letters, certifications with verification links, plus the salary and relocation ask.
Relocation support to line up
- →SSN application and a state ID on arrival, and a US bank account and credit file started from zero
- →A pointer to initial housing, since NYC leases usually want employment history a new arrival cannot yet produce
- →No language ramp, and an Eastern-time cadence already proven on Canadian delivery
Family & dependants
The spouse and children under 21 enter on O-3, which permits study but not employment. That is the one place this route is worse than the Canadian and EU ones, and it is worth raising with a candidate's partner early rather than late.
What trips sponsorship up
- ✕Assuming H-1B is the default route, which costs a year of waiting and the $100,000 payment on top
- ✕Filing O-1A on a thin record: the advisory opinion and the criterion exhibits are the petition, not paperwork wrapped around it
- ✕Skipping premium processing, then treating the standard 2–4 month queue as a surprise
New York is not a cold market for Fauzul. It is one of ELO's ten canonical client geographies, and four-plus years of Canadian delivery mean the Eastern working day is one he already keeps. He is ready to be onsite as soon as the petition lands.
The numbers that make the New York case before a single interview.
What lands in the first quarter
- →Sit with the customer and ship: nine years of client-facing 0→1 delivery across ten geographies is what forward-deployed work in this city actually is.
- →Run production LLM orchestration rather than prototypes, the way NewScriber runs as a live daily audio network on Go, n8n and Kimi via OpenRouter.
- →Take regulated payment surfaces seriously: Jamahook's Stripe checkout carried 15,000+ seats with GDPR and VAT modelled into the state, not bolted on.
Where the demand is
Tap any sector to ask who's hiring and how Fauzul fits.
Customers and engineers share a city here, so forward-deployed work is onsite rather than async. Nine years of client-facing 0→1 delivery across ten geographies is exactly that pattern.
Production LLM orchestration rather than prototypes. NewScriber runs Go, n8n and Kimi via OpenRouter with Gemini TTS on Azure as a live daily network.
Regulated payment surfaces led by someone who still ships. Jamahook's Stripe checkout carried 15,000+ seats with GDPR and VAT modelled into the React/NestJS state.
Leaders who stay close to the code. ELO went from four people to a 22-person cross-functional studio with 4× faster time-to-market.
Pick the route — and we file
Two doors into the United States. The recommended one is built for Fauzul's profile; the alternative is there if speed or an accredited employer favours it.
O-1A (Extraordinary Ability)
The employer petitions on Form I-129 with a peer-group advisory opinion. The test is documented evidence against at least three of eight USCIS criteria, not a credential, so there is no annual cap, no lottery, no degree requirement and no statutory salary floor. Premium processing returns a decision in 15 business days. Granted for up to 3 years and extendable in 1-year increments, and dual-intent friendly, so an EB-1A or EB-2 NIW green-card petition runs alongside it.
Degree? The two routes split here, and that is why O-1A leads. O-1A has no degree requirement at all: the test is evidence of extraordinary ability, so 9+ yrs leading engineering at ELO is the qualification itself. H-1B is the opposite — it needs a bachelor's degree or a credential evaluation combining completed coursework with the three-years-of-experience-per-year-of-college rule, and that evaluation is a real step to clear before the lane opens.
- Salary floor
- none on O-1A · OES prevailing wage on H-1B (SOC 15-1252, NY-metro median $166,830)
- Processing
- 15 business days on premium processing (2–4 months standard)
- Working hours
- New York business hours (09:00–18:00 EST/EDT)
H-1B cap-subject — FY2028 lottery
The FY2027 registration window closed 19 Mar 2026, so the next entry is around March 2027 for an October 2027 start. Registration is $215 per entry and, since 27 Feb 2026, selection is weighted by OES wage level, which favours a senior filing. Proclamation 10973 also imposes a $100,000 payment on petitions for a beneficiary outside the US; a court struck it down on 8 Jun 2026 then stayed its own ruling pending appeal, so it is still being collected.
Choose this if speed or an accredited employer favours it.

Tick your way to filing-ready
A hire your counsel can file on O-1A immediately, with no lottery and a 15-business-day decision, instead of one who waits until October 2027 for an H-1B start.
